Reasons To Use Overhead Garage Doors Instead Of Roll Up Doors
At a first sight, roll up doors seem so much more comfortable and practical than overhead garage doors. The way they… well, roll up – not spreading across your garage ceiling – seems like the best decisive factor.
But they are not that great as you might think. They rattle in the wind and have zero insulation.
So which one should it be: a traditional overhead garage door or a roll up door?
The answer depends on where you plan to install the door. Allow us to explain.
For example, if you are thinking about installing roll up doors for your garage at home… not such a good idea. Especially if you live in Edmond, El Reno, Mustang, Okc, Oklahoma City, Piedmont, Yukon – the weather tends to get windy here… Plus, you may not find an opener for these doors, and doing everything manually is a waste of time.
On another hand, if you own a small shop in a shopping center, then roll up doors might suit your needs. Most shops from malls & co. have security alarms installed together with a security door and a normal door. No wind blows here, and rain is, of course, out of the question. So maybe roll up doors are a good idea for this scenario?
Going back to that garage at home now.
An overhead garage door is more expensive than a roll up door, but it provides the safety you want for your home. It occupies the ceiling of your garage when open, but you will never hear this door rattling in the wind. What is more, they are way more aesthetic than roll up doors, which have a more heavy duty, industrial look.
Traditional garage doors are therefore a way better choice than roll up doors. And that is simply because they are created especially for your garage.
